Lower speeds than expected

Your USB modem automatically establishes a 3G connection to the internet if 3G is turned on in the USB modem application and if you have 3G network coverage.

Make sure that you have established a 3G connection to the internet by checking if the blue light on your USB modem is turned on. If you have no 3G connection, make sure that the USB modem application is set to search for both 2G and 3G networks.
