I can't use my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot - BlackBerry Curve 9720

Cause 2 of 2: Your phone hasn't been correctly set up as a Wi-Fi hotspot

You can't use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot if your phone hasn't been set up correctly.

Solution: Set up your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Find "Manage Connections"

Press the Menu key twice.

Find "Manage Connections"

Press Manage Connections.

Turn on Wi-Fi hotspot

Press the field next to "Mobile Hotspot" until the function is turned on.

Select settings for Wi-Fi hotspot

Key in the required password for the Wi-Fi hotspot and press OK.

Press Networks and Connections.

Press Mobile Hotspot Connections.

Press Options.

Press the field below "Network Name (SSID)" and key in the required name for the Wi-Fi hotspot.

Press the Menu key.

Establish connection

Do the following on the device which is to connect to your Wi-Fi hotspot:
Turn on Wi-Fi.
Find the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
Select the network name you keyed in in step 3.
Key in the password you selected in step 3 and establish a connection to the Wi-Fi hotspot.
When the connection is established, you can access the internet from the other device.

Return to the home screen

Press Disconnect.

Press the Return key to return to the home screen.

Press Options.

Press the Menu key.
Press Save.

4 Establish connection

Do the following on the device which is to connect to your Wi-Fi hotspot:
Turn on Wi-Fi.
Find the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
Select the network name you keyed in in step 3.
Key in the password you selected in step 3 and establish a connection to the Wi-Fi hotspot.
When the connection is established, you can access the internet from the other device.

5 Return to the home screen

Press Disconnect.
Press the Return key to return to the home screen.
