Some applications aren't ended completely when your device returns to standby mode, but keep running in the background unless you end them from the list of active applications. Follow these instructions to end active applications.

Press and hold the home icon until a pop-up menu is displayed.

Press the x in the top right corner of the required application.

Press End all.
