Set up your phone for POP3 email - Apple iPhone 4 (iOS4)

Follow these instructions to set up your phone for POP3 email.
Please note that these instructions are based on a POP3 email account. If you have a web-based email account, you need to use the settings for web-based email. Click here for more information.

Find "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"

Press Settings.

Create new email account

Press Add Account....

Enter sender name

Press Name and key in the name you want to use as sender name in your email messages.

Enter email address

Press Address and key in your email address.

Enter password

Press Password and key in the password for your email account at your email provider.

Enter email account name

Press Description and key in a name for your email account (such as "Private" or "Work").

Press Next.

Select server type

Press POP.

Enter incoming server

Press Host Name below Incoming Mail Server.
Key in the name or the IP address of your service provider's incoming server.

Enter username

Press User Name below Incoming Mail Server and key in the username for your email account at your email provider.

Enter outgoing server

Press Host Name below Outgoing Mail Server.
Key in the name or IP address of your email provider's outgoing server.
Please note that if you can't send email messages when using your email provider's outgoing server, key in smtp.vodafone.net.au (Vodafone's outgoing server).

Enter username and password for outgoing server

Follow the instructions on the display to key in the username and password for your email account.
Please note that if you're using Vodafone's outgoing server, leave the username and password fields empty.

Save information

Press Save or Next.
Please wait while the email account is created. This may take 2-3 minutes.
If various prompts are displayed, confirm these to continue the setup.

Turn synchronisation of email messages and notes on or off

Press the indicator next to Mail or Notes to turn synchronisation on or off.

The menu items are only displayed if you have set up an IMAP email account.

Press Save.

Select settings for retrieval of new email messages

Press Fetch New Data.

Press the indicator next to Push to select OFF.

Press the required period or Manually.

To select settings for a specific email account:
Press Advanced.

Press the Home key to return to standby mode.

Press Settings.

Create new email account

Press Add Account....
Press Other.
Press Add Mail Account.

Enter sender name

Press Name and key in the name you want to use as sender name in your email messages.

Enter email address

Press Address and key in your email address.

Enter password

Press Password and key in the password for your email account at your email provider.

Enter email account name

Press Description and key in a name for your email account (such as "Private" or "Work").
Press Next.

Select server type
